Prescriptions

Getting a prescription.

How a legal UK medical cannabis prescription works. No GP referral needed to approach a specialist clinic. General guidance, not medical advice.

We're not doctors

We point the way. We don't prescribe.

Only a registered specialist can assess you and prescribe. We don't — and won't. We explain the route and point you to UK specialist clinics: unbiased, no commission, no tie-ins. We lay out the options; you choose.

Once you're prescribed, Mary Jane's Place is the member space built around you — a safe, lawful place to use your medicine. We're building it now and growing it.

How it works

From first question to first dose.

STEP ONE

Check you might be eligible

Prescriptions are usually for adults with a diagnosed condition who have already tried other treatments without enough relief. It helps to gather your medical history before you start.

STEP TWO

Approach a specialist clinic

You can contact a UK specialist clinic directly — no GP referral needed. Ask us and we'll point you to the options so you can book your own assessment.

STEP THREE

Assessment & prescription

A registered specialist reviews your case and, if it's clinically appropriate, issues a prescription. The decision sits entirely with them — eligibility is never guaranteed.

STEP FOUR

Become a member & use it with us

Once you're prescribed, join Mary Jane's Place. Bring your medicine and use it legally in a space made for prescribed patients, with the equipment and people to help you get the most from it.

Eligibility

Who can usually be prescribed.

Adults with a diagnosis

Prescriptions are generally for adults with a diagnosed condition. Common areas include chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD and several others — there's no fixed list.

Other treatments tried

Specialists typically expect that you've already tried other treatments without adequate relief. Your medical history helps the clinic make that judgement.

The specialist decides

Eligibility is a clinical decision made by a registered specialist on a case-by-case basis. Meeting the general criteria is not a guarantee of a prescription.

What to expect on cost

A straight word on price.

Most UK prescriptions are private, and costs vary by clinic — assessment, follow-ups and the medicine. We can't quote a figure; it depends on your clinic and treatment.

Some clinics run access or discount schemes — for veterans, low incomes or students. Ask each clinic directly; we'll flag where it's worth looking.

No bias, ever

Honest guidance, both ways.

We earn nothing from where you go or what you buy.

Finding a clinic

Independent, no commission

Book your own assessment at a UK specialist clinic — no GP referral. No commission, no tie-ins, no steering. We lay out the options; you decide.

Choosing a device

Recommended honestly

Same with equipment: honest advice on what suits your needs and budget, not what earns us most. Try one in the lounge first.
